Conception, general planning & coordination: Places & Traces

A non-profit civil law company active in the fields of educational, cultural and social innovation. P&T introduces interdisciplinary practices highlighting place identity, while initiating national and international synergies aiming to reinforce communities by expanding awareness of urban, natural and cultural contexts.

The following experts have offered to support the programme’s planning and implementation, in the fields of history, art & creativity, and education (in alphabetical order):

Dr Despina Douka

Principal at the 2nd High School of Agia Paraskevi (Attica, Greece), Member of the Council of Kostis Palamas Foundation, Member of the Group “Thematofilakes of Palimniako Tameio Limnou”. She is the author of articles and studies on various cultural aspects of Lemnos. She has organised and participated in cultural events, held in Lemnos and around Greece, on the literary production, history and mythology of the island.

Thodoris Belitsos

Chemist and author, former teacher. For three decades he has researched and published articles, studies and books on the history and culture of Lemnos and other areas, as well as literary texts. He has been honoured with a Commendation from the Academy of Athens and awarded at literary competitions.

Nikolas Bliatkas

He graduated from the School of Fine Arts – AUTH and is a former Arts teacher. His works are held in public and private collections in Greece and abroad. From 2002 to 2015 he was Art Director at the Μunicipality Art Workshops in Naoussa. Since 2013, he has been the artistic manager of the Art Space “Ochre Blue” in Myrina, Lemnos, and has organised large-scale exhibitions around the island (IN RED-100 years from the Battle of Gallipoli, WINE SPIRIT and more).

Maria Papapanagiotou

Greek literature teacher and Director of “Argyrios Moschidis” Junior High School of Moudros, Lemnos. Postgraduate Studies in Education at the Hellenic Open University, and PhD candidate in Latin Philology at the Democritus University of Thrace. Extensive experience in innovative educational actions, with special interest in the digitization of the history of Lemnos and the creation of documentaries with similar content.

Prof. Dimitris Plantzos

Professor of Classical Archaeology at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. His research focuses on the art and archaeology of Greece, archaeological theory and cultural studies. He is the author of Greek Art and Archaeology (2016) and The Art of Painting in Ancient Greece (2018); he is currently writing a book on the history and archaeology of Lemnos.
